What to Expect From a Residential Sprinkler Installation

In the UK, most high rise residential buildings will require a sprinkler system installation in order to keep residents safe and to minimise the risk of fire spreading throughout the property. As such, new builds tend to be fitted with sprinklers as standard, whilst older buildings can be retrofitted in order to meet these safety requirements.

To make sure that your building is safe and fully compliant, you can arrange a sprinkler installation with our specialist team at Snowdonia Fire Protection. We’ll ensure that you receive a bespoke design for your new system, so you can rest assured that your property will be fully protected in the event of an emergency.

Read on to find out more about what to expect from a residential sprinkler installation.

Initial Assessment

When you book a sprinkler installation with us, we will begin by asking for information about the nature and the layout of your property. Usually, we will then schedule a site visit in order to better understand your needs. Our team will complete a survey of your premises, taking into account the size of your building and any pre-existing infrastructure.

System Design

Once we have all the information we need, our team will then utilise the latest software technology for the in-house production of CAD drawings. This will help us to create bespoke plans for your sprinkler system. We will also complete hydraulic design calculations to submit to your water authority and building control departments.

Pipe & Sprinkler Installation

From here, the installation team will be able to carefully fit pipes throughout your building, where these can be concealed in the walls and ceiling. Next, the sprinkler heads will be connected to your system at measured intervals, ensuring that each room has proper water coverage.

Final Tests & Cover Fittings

After all components have been fitted, your installation team will run a series of tests to ensure that any leaks or issues can be corrected. From here, we can also fit some sprinkler head covers in order to blend your installation into the ceiling. This may be preferable if you wish to preserve the sleek appearance of your residential space.
